Brief description of functions
A person who assists the dentist, dental surgeon, or dental hygienist in the performance of their duties during clinics, examinations, or surgical procedures. They prepare, maintain, store, and, when necessary, sterilize the required equipment. They complete and file records.
Specific functions and requirements
Specific Duties
- Welcome patients;
- Prepare the dental chair and necessary instruments;
- Explain treatment steps to patients as the occur;
- Assist the dentist during treatments and with administrative tasks;
- Sterilize instruments and ensure cleanliness and disinfection of the clinic;
- Manage inventory;
- Provide relevant documents to patients;
- Ensure appropriate translation is available for clients who speak other languages;
- Ensure all prescriptions are forwarded to the CLSC pharmacy service;
- Assist, when applicable, developing staff (dental assistant duties);
- Perform any other tasks requested by the immediate supervisor.
Desired Profile
- DEP (vocational diploma) in Dental Assisting;
- Diploma in the specialty from a recognized school;
- Two years of experience in the health and social services sector (an asset);
- Resourceful, versatile, autonomous, responsible, and able to teach;
- Strong ability to interact with clients;
- Client- and action-oriented;
- Proficiency in spoken and written English;
- Ability to communicate in English, both spoken and written;
- Shows initiative, resourcefulness, and autonomy;
- Reliable;
- Empathetic.
Working conditions
- Hourly rate: $24.47 to $26.10;
- Day shift;
- Isolation premium of $227.69/week for a 35-hour week (without dependents) or $401.36/week for a 35-hour week (with dependents);
- Retention bonus starting at $1,513 annually for an employee with less than one year of continuous service at the Naskapi CLSC;
- Cargo premium of $83.75/week for a 35-hour week (per adult and child aged 12 and over), $41.88/week for a 35-hour week (per child under 12);
- Furnished housing provided, all included (high-speed fiber-optic Internet), if located more than 50 km from your residence;
- Paid transportation;
- 3 or 4 annual trips depending on status;
- Group insurance plan;
- Defined benefit pension plan (RREGOP).
