The CLSC is on the Naskapi territory of Kawawachikamach, a region rich in nature and culture. It is responsible for planning, coordinating, organizing and providing health and social services to the Naskapi community. It also collaborates in the health care of the entire population of the region.

Brief description of functions
A person who, based on established general programs, develops specific education and prevention programs in dental hygiene. He/She collaborates on various screening programs. He/She applies and teach dental hygiene techniques in prevention and dental care.
Specific functions and requirements
The dental hygienist of Kawawachikamach will meet the preventive needs of the entire Naskapi population as part of a pilot project by the Ministry of Health and Social Services . The integrated task dental hygienist will work in various environments, such as schools, daycares, women’s and men’s shelters, the community center, at home, or in any other setting deemed appropriate by the Naskapi population and the Naskapi CLSC. More specifically, but not exhaustively, he/she will have to:
- Perform the acts of the service basket offered to the population according to the responsibilities described in Law 15 of 2020, such as:
- Participate in accountability reporting;
- Participate in the evaluation of the pilot project;
- Participate in the necessary purchases for the accomplishment of their work;
- Support/train CLSC and community workers;
- Transport dental equipment from one location to another;
- Sterilize used equipment;
- Maintain inventory and place orders for dental supplies;
- Continuously assess and adapt to the needs of the population.
REQUIREMENTS
- Must hold a diploma of college studies (DCS) in dental hygiene techniques from a school recognized by the competent ministry;
- Must be a member of the Ordre professionnel des hygiénistes dentaires du Québec;
- Two (2) years of relevant experience (an asset);
- Experience working in remote areas (an asset);
- Proficiency in spoken and written English;
- Shows initiative, resourcefulness, and autonomy;
- Demonstrates an open mind towards cultural differences, interest, and empathy towards others;
- Good ability to adapt to a new environment;
- Valid driver’s license;
- Knowledge of minimally invasive techniques (an asset).
Working conditions
- Hourly rate to be discussed;
- Availability for two to three weeks of work, 3-4 times a year (dates to be discussed);
- Furnished accommodation provided, everything is included (high-speed fiber optic Internet), if located more than 50 km from your place of residence;
- Transportation and travel expenses paid.
