The CLSC is located in the Naskapi territory of Kawawachikamach, a region rich in nature and culture. It is responsible for planning, coordinating, organizing, and delivering health and social services to the Naskapi community. It also contributes to the health care of the entire population of the region.

Brief description of functions
Under the supervision of the Head of Clinical Services, this position, within the Day Centre, involves carrying out a range of tasks aimed at accompanying and supporting the user and their family, or compensating for the user’s functional limitations in performing activities of daily living or domestic activities. The role also includes promoting the user’s integration and socialization through individual and community activities.
The incumbent ensures hygiene, well-being, comfort, monitoring, and the general needs of users. They install certain equipment and provide invasive and non‑invasive assistive care related to activities of daily living, for which they have received appropriate training. They may distribute and administer medications. They may also
prepare meals and perform household tasks.
The incumbent informs supervisors and team members of their observations regarding the needs of the user and their family. In collaboration with other professionals, they participate in identifying the user’s needs, developing the service or intervention plan, and implementing it.
Specific functions and requirements
Assistance with participation in activities
- Helps seniors prepare for and take part in group activities, recreational activities, and personal care (e.g., hygiene, dressing, mobility).
Observation et vigilance
- Observe les aînés, transmet les observations pertinentes à l’équipe et veille à leur sécurité et à leur confort.
Meal assistance
- Helps seniors with eating, hands out snacks and meals, and ensures they are properly served. May occasionally assist with meal preparation.
Support for activities
- Takes part in preparing rooms, organizing spaces, and ensuring the smooth running of activities.
Accompaniment
- Accompanies seniors during bus transportation and outings, supports them during activities, and provides emotional support.
Communication
- Listens to seniors, communicates their needs to the team, and takes part in discussions with families.
Teamwork
- Works collaboratively with the day center activity coordinator, nurses, other professionals, and various partners to ensure coordinated services for seniors.
Other duties
- Writes observation and progress notes, and prepares statistics as needed;
- Actively participates in continuing education and supervision activities;
- Takes part in meetings with the multidisciplinary social and community services team, as required;
- Provides translation support, as needed;
- Performs any other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
REQUIREMENTS
- Must hold a high school diploma or equivalent. A combination of relevant education and experience will be considered;
- Proficiency in spoken Naskapi;
- Proficiency in spoken and written English;
- Knowledge of Naskapi traditions, beliefs, and customs;
- Computer literacy (Outlook, Word, Myles);
- Training as a Beneficiary attendant (BA) will be considered an asset;
- Training in the Principles for the safe movement of beneficiaries (PDSB) will be considered an asset;
- Experience working with seniors will be considered an asset;
- Genuine interest in seniors and a desire to contribute to their well-being;
- Ability to communicate effectively and adapt communication to the needs of seniors;
- Patience, empathy, and strong listening skills;
- Good physical health;
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team;
- Strong sense of responsibility, initiative, organizational skills, and sound judgment;
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively;
- Valid driver’s license;
- Reliability and regular attendance.
Priority will be given to beneficiary of the Northeastern Quebec Agreement
Working conditions
- Hourly rate $29,37;
- Day shift; variable schedule: coverage for vacations, various leaves, temporary position due to increased workload;
- Isolation premium of $233,38/week of 35 hours (without dependent) or $411,40/week of 35 hours (with dependent); paid each pay period according to hours worked;
- Retention premium starting at $29,00/week for an employee with less than one year of continuous service at the Naskapi CLSC;
- Cargo premium $83.75/week of 35 hours (adult and child 12 years and older), $41.88/week of 35 hours (child under 12);
- Group insurance;
- Pension plan (RREGOP).
