Brief description of functions
Clinician nurse who, in addition to the duties of an Assistant Head Nurse or Assistant to the Immediate Supervisor, develops, implements, evaluates, and revises clinical tools and quality-of-care assessment instruments.
She/he assists the immediate supervisor in the performance of their duties. She/he plans, supervises, and coordinates the activities of a department throughout the duration of his/her shift. She/he serves as a resource person for the nursing team in the planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care.
She/he collaborates in the development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of departmental programs, as well as clinical and quality-of-care assessment tools. She/he also participates in staff orientation, the identification of training needs, and employee performance evaluations.
When required, she/he carries out the regular duties of a Clinical Nurse.
She/he replaces the immediate supervisor during the following absences:
a) Weekly days off;
b) Statutory holidays;
c) Annual vacation leave;
d) Any other continuous absence not exceeding one (1) month.
Specific functions and requirements
- He or she ensures that ordering tools (Catalog) are used in accordance with established practices;
- He or she works in collaboration with the physician on site;
- He or she ensures that the various protocols related to medical equipment are kept up to date and monitors their implementation;
- He or she provides support to on-site staff;
- He or she provides on-site support to staff;
- He or she is responsible for the inventory management process across the clinic’s various departments;
- He or she represents the clinical team at multidisciplinary follow-up meetings;
- He or she develops the nursing staff on-call schedule.
Requirements
- Must hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) or a bachelor's degree that includes three (3) recognized certificates, of which at least two (2) must be in nursing;
- Must be a member in good standing of the Ordre des infirmières et infirmiers du Québec (OIIQ);
- Expanded Role training required; must be authorized to carry out collective prescriptions related to the position or have successfully completed Expanded Role training;
- Excellent spoken and written English skills;
- Proficiency in Naskapi (an asset);
- Experience working with First Nations communities or in a remote region (an asset);
- Experience working in remote regions and with First Nations communities (an asset);
- Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills;
- Interest in sharing knowledge and experience with colleagues;
- Demonstrates initiative, resourcefulness, and autonomy;
- Demonstrates openness to cultural differences, as well as interest in and empathy towards others;
- Strong ability to adapt to a new environment;
- Valid driver's licence;
- Any other combination of relevant education and experience may be considered.
Working conditions
- Hourly rate according to the Nomenclature des titres d’emploi, des libellés, des taux et des échelles de salaire du réseau de la santé et des services sociaux, based on the job title related to the candidate’s diploma;
- Day shift, schedule of 37.50/week, from Monday to Friday;
- On-call and Medevac shifts;
- Isolation premium of $233.63/week of 37.50 hours (without dependent) or $411.40/week of 37.50 hours (with dependent); ); paid each pay period according to hours worked;
- Retention premium of $287.47/week of 37.50 hours;
- Dispensary premium of $228.00 / week of 37.50 hours for 1911 - Clinical nurse only;
- Cargo premium 83.75/week of 37.50 hours (adult and child 12 years and older), 41.88$/week of 37.50 hours (child under 12);
- Furnished accommodation provided, everything is included (high-speed fiber optic Internet), if located more than 50 km from your place of residence;
- Moving and storage costs reimbursed by the CLSC;
- Transportation day and travel expenses paid;
- 4 annual outings for full-time employees with a “no dependent” status: The full-time work schedule averages 8-9 weeks worked and 4 weeks off;
- 3 annual outings for a “with dependent(s)” status: The full-time work schedule averages 12-13 weeks worked and 4-5 weeks off;
- The part-time work schedule averages five (5) weeks worked and eight (8) weeks off;
- Possibility to obtain a Nordic leave if you are working in the Health System;
- Group insurance;
- Pension plan (RREGOP).
