Brief description of functions
A person who assists the dentist, dental surgeon, or dental hygienist in the performance of their duties during clinics, examinations, or surgical procedures. He or she is responsible for the preparation, general maintenance, storage, and, if necessary, sterilization of the required materials. He or she completes and files records.
Specific functions and requirements
- Welcomes the patient;
- Prepares the chair and necessary instruments;
- Explains to the patient what is happening during the treatment(s);
- Assists the dentist during treatments and with administrative tasks;
- Sterilizes the work instruments and ensures the cleanliness and disinfection of the premises;
- Responsible for inventory;
- Provides patients with relevant documents;
- Ensures adequate translation for clients speaking different languages;
- Ensures all prescriptions are sent to the CLSC pharmacy services;
- Performs any other tasks requested by the immediate supervisor.
REQUIREMENTS
- Diploma of Vocation Studies (DVS) in dental assistance;
- Belong to the Quebec Dental Assistants Association;
- Diploma of completion in the specialty of a recognized school;
- Two years of experience in the health and social services sector, an asset;
- Resourceful, versatile, autonomous, responsible and pedagogical person;
- Great ability to interact with users;
- Customer and action oriented;
- Fluency in oral and written English;
- Shows initiative, resourcefulness and autonomy;
- Reliable;
- Empathetic.
Working conditions
- Hourly rate according to the Nomenclature des titres d’emploi, des libellés, des taux et des échelles de salaire du réseau de la santé et des services sociaux, based on the job title related to the candidate’s diploma;
- Day shift, schedule of 35h/week;
- Isolation premium of $221.92/week of 35 hours (without dependent) or $391.18$/week of 35 hours (with dependent);
- Retention premium starting at $1,513 annually for an employee with less than one year of continuous service at the Naskapi CLSC.
- Cargo premium of $30.27/week. This premium is increased for a candidate with dependents;
- Group insurance;
- Pension plan (RREGOP).
